Thyne-Swain House . Sarasota, Florida
Purity of line grants a sleek, modern elegance to this house. The structure was permitted to become an artistic expression and the walls pure planes. The post and beam supported roof floats above the extended walls, defined by a glass perimeter. Fixed glass filters light into bedrooms on either side of this dwelling, while the living room core is bathed in diffused sunlight from an interior court. This house was the first in a series of houses designed on a 6’ x 16’ grid.
