Hiss Studio . Lido Key, Florida.
The Hiss Studio was designed by Edward J. Seibert, at the age of 26, for developer Philip Hiss in 1953 in Lido Shores. The studio was designed as a steel-framed box supported by two rows of exposed columns. A small foyer sits on the ground level with a detailed circular stairway leading you to the first floor. Walking up the staircase, one enters a large open room enclosed by floor to ceiling glass windows. The steel columns continue through first floor which includes compatible open bookshelf elements. The studio was intended to function as an office for administering residential developments on Lido Shores. Today, the Hiss Studio serves as a residence and is an architectural icon of the Sarasota School of Architecture.
