The 42nd Street House Interior . Sarasota, Florida.
The original clear-coated interior wood paneling had either been painted or covered with wall coverings. The original cabinetry had been damaged. Original trim detailing was studied and replicated at the paneled walls. Columns that had been removed were reinstalled. Impact resistant glass was installed.
Existing terrazzo was stained and damaged beyond repair. Previous additions to this house had concrete floors. Their finish was inconsistent or damaged due to unfinished renovations by the previous owner, therefore, new cork flooring was used throughout.
Furnishings were chosen that did not sit heavily on the floors and that were sympathetic to the contemporary design of the house. Other new materials were chosen for their lightness and compatibility with the lightness of the original detailing.
