Inn on the Beach. Longboat Key, Florida.

Comprising 245 residential units with a sensitive massing which respects and enhances the natural amenities on the twenty acre site, the Inn on the Beach contributes a powerful image to the southern tip of Longboat Key.  Sculptural stepping facades interact with a skillful play of solid and void to create visual interest and define scale.  Architectural devices such as sunscreens and louvers address desirable energy considerations while simultaneously delineating the building facade.  Palm courts and trellis-covered parking areas describe scale with patterns of light and establish an elegance appropriate for an island resort.  While achieving all the elements of a grand resort, clarity of concept and a strong modern aesthetic prevail.
